Eligibility Criteria

To appear for the JEE Main, you do not need to worry about any upper age limit, but your timeline is strictly tied to when you finish high school. You are eligible to take the exam in the year you pass your Class 12 board exams and the two consecutive years immediately following that, giving you a focused three year window to give it your best shot. During your Class 12 studies, you must have taken at least five subjects overall. For engineering aspirants, Physics and Mathematics are strictly mandatory, alongside one elective subject like Chemistry or Biology. Interestingly, the testing agency does not demand a high board percentage just to sit in the examination hall; you simply need to pass your school exams. However, the real catch comes during college admissions. If your goal is to actually secure a seat in premier institutions like the NITs or IIITs, you must either score at least 75 percent in your board exams, with a relaxation to 65 percent for reserved categories, or rank in the top 20 percentile of your specific educational board.
