About Maharshi Dayanand Law College

If you are looking at Patan for your legal studies, you need to understand how Maharshi Dayanand Law College operates. It runs on a relatively quiet campus in the Baspa area, away from the loud traffic of central Patan, meaning you get a more focused environment than you would in Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar. You won't find corporate law firm headhunters roaming the halls here. Instead, you get a steady, practical focus on local legal systems, court procedures, and grassroots litigation forming the core of classroom discussions.

Admissions Overview

The college compiles its admission list based purely on the academic performance in your qualifying examination, whether that is your graduation score for the three-year LL.B. or your senior secondary results for the integrated course. Once applications close, the administration publishes a category-wise cutoff list on the college notice board and their portal, reflecting the highest and lowest scores admitted for that batch.

If your name appears on this merit cutoff, you must visit the Baspa campus with your original documents—particularly your graduation marksheets and category certificates—for verification. Your enrollment is finalized only after the administrative staff verifies these physical copies and you clear the first-term tuition fees at the bank counter on site.

Campus & Infrastructure

Facility	Description
Cafeteria / Canteen	A simple, open-air spot on campus serving local Gujarati snacks like thepla and hot tea, where students gather to discuss moot court debates or local court rulings.
Computer Center / Wi-Fi Campus	A dedicated computer lab with internet connectivity, primarily used by students to access regional legal databases and read judgments of the High Court of Gujarat.
Placement Cell / Career Guidance	Provides guidance on local court procedures, helping students secure clerkships under practicing advocates in the Patan District Court and nearby taluka courts.
Auditorium / Seminar Hall	A mid-sized hall with basic sound systems where local judges and senior advocates from the Patan Bar Association conduct guest lectures and practical mock trials.
Library	Houses physical copies of the All India Reporter (AIR), Supreme Court Cases (SCC), and essential regional legal texts, acting as the primary quiet study zone.

Bottom line: This college is best suited for self-motivated students who plan to practice in regional courts or civil services in Gujarat, rather than those seeking corporate placements in multi-national firms. Before you submit your application, make sure to visit the Baspa campus physically to ensure its quiet, rural-adjacent setting matches your lifestyle expectations.
