About Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry

If you get excited by livestock herd health, hands-on diagnostics, or working up close with mountain breeds, this campus fits you perfectly. It serves the gritty student who does not mind mud on their boots or late-night clinic duty during cold Ganderbal winters. Our work revolves directly around the farming realities of Jammu and Kashmir, focusing heavily on clinical experience with Himalayan livestock.

Life on Campus

Facility	Description
Student Clubs & Societies	The Veterinary Extension Club leads regional animal health camps, letting you work alongside local Gujjar and Bakarwal pastoralists.
Sports / Playground	Our outdoor grounds face the mountain slopes, hosting competitive football and cricket matches between academic departments.
Library	The Shuhama library holds specialized catalogs on high-altitude animal physiology, sheep breeding literature, and regional veterinary medicine journals.
Computer Center / Wi-Fi Campus	A central computing lab supports students tracking epidemic data and running livestock genetics analysis software.
Cafeteria / Canteen	Serving fresh salted tea, local breads, and warm lunch options, this space is the go-to spot to discuss surgical rotations.
Transport	University buses run daily routes between Srinagar neighborhoods and the Shuhama campus for commuting students.

What stands out: The direct access to the university's mountain-livestock research farm gives you clinical exposure that city-based colleges simply cannot replicate. Do not come here expecting a corporate, tech-heavy environment; this is a rugged, hands-on veterinary training ground.
