About Balhans College of Social Work, Thava

Most mornings here start with us coordinating travel plans to tribal hamlets around Valia and Netrang for field placement. Because we study social work in a rural pocket of the Bharuch district, our classroom discussions on community organization aren't theoretical; they directly reflect what we encountered on-ground the previous afternoon. This constant loop between village panchayat visits and academic debriefs shapes our entire routine.

How to Apply

Our admission process evaluates your genuine interest in field-level social reforms rather than just academic grades. Follow these four steps to apply:

Inquiry & Application Form: Complete the digital inquiry on the Balhans portal to receive your application form, where you must state your language preference (English/Gujarati medium) for the MSW course.
Fieldwork Readiness Assessment: Participate in a group discussion on campus focused on current social challenges in rural Gujarat, designed to gauge your baseline empathy and awareness of grassroots issues.
Personal Interview: Attend an interview with the social work faculty panel to discuss your volunteer experience, local language proficiency, and willingness to work in remote tribal areas.
Verification & Enrollment: After selection, complete your enrollment by verifying your original graduation or school-leaving certificates and paying the VNSGU-affiliated registration fees.

Campus & Infrastructure

Facility	Description
Transport	Dedicated bus routes are scheduled to cover distant villages like Netrang and Dediyapada, making sure students can reach their assigned rural field work sites safely.
Sports / Playground	An open play field serves as our rehearsal zone for street plays and community outreach performances before we take them out to local villages.
Computer Center / Wi-Fi Campus	A computer lab equipped with internet access allows us to compile field reports, complete social surveys, and access digital government development portals.
Cafeteria / Canteen	Serves simple, freshly prepared regional Gujarati meals and tea, acting as the informal space where students debrief each other after long afternoons of rural survey work.
Gym / Fitness Center	A basic fitness room with essential workout weights to help students maintain the physical endurance required for extensive village foot-surveys.

Net-net: If you are looking for an urban campus with corporate recruiting desks, this rural-adjacent institute in Thava will not fit your expectations. It is built strictly for those who want their boots in the mud, working closely with rural and tribal community governance in South Gujarat.
