UPTET 2026 Online Form: Notification Out for Primary & Junior Level Teachers

UPTET 2026: Application Process Starts with Mandatory OTR

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has officially released the notification for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. This is the first time the exam is being conducted by the newly formed commission, and they’ve introduced a major change: One-Time Registration (OTR) is now mandatory. If you are planning to become a primary (Class 1-5) or upper primary (Class 6-8) teacher, you need to complete your OTR before you can even touch the application form.

The application portal opened on March 27, 2026, and candidates have a one-month window to submit their details. With the exam scheduled for early July, the pressure is on. This year, the commission is looking to streamline the process to avoid the delays seen in previous years. Here is everything you need to know about the dates, fees, and the toolkit required for a smooth registration.

Eligibility: Primary and Junior Levels

The commission has cleared any confusion regarding eligibility. For Primary Level (Class 1-5), you need a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed (BTC) or equivalent qualification. For Junior Level (Class 6-8), the requirements are similar but also include B.Ed degree holders.

Since the OTR process requires you to upload your photograph and signature, many candidates face issues with file sizes. The UPESSC portal is very strict—if your photo is even a few KBs too large, the upload will fail. Use the Toolkit link provided in the table above to resize your images and convert documents into the required format before you start your session.

Conclusion

UPTET 2026 is a massive opportunity for over 10 lakh aspirants in the state. With the new OTR system in place, the commission aims to make future teacher recruitments much faster. Make sure you complete your registration well before the April 26 deadline to avoid the inevitable server rush. Once your form is submitted, keep your OTR ID safe, as you will need it for the Super TET and other upcoming teaching exams in Uttar Pradesh.
