Over 7,400 Meritorious Students in Madhya Pradesh Receive Scooty Assistance Today

In Bhopal this Saturday, Madhya Pradesh is recognising the hard work of thousands of Class 12 students from government schools. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is transferring funds under the Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana to more than 7,400 eligible toppers during a state-level programme at Government Subhash Excellent Higher Secondary School in Shivaji Nagar.

The money goes straight into the students’ bank accounts through direct benefit transfer. Those without their own accounts can receive it in a parent or guardian’s Aadhaar-linked account. Students can then buy either a motorised scooty or an electric one of their choice.

The scheme rewards regular students from government higher secondary schools under the School Education Department and the Tribal Affairs Department. To qualify, a student must have passed the Class 12 board examination in the first attempt with at least 70 percent marks and must have stood first in their school. The higher marks threshold of 70 percent came into effect from this year.

Financial assistance is capped at Rs 90,000 for a motorised scooty and Rs 1.20 lakh for an e-scooty. Officials have advised students to wait until the amount reaches their accounts before making any purchase.

The programme covers the 2025-26 academic session. So far the scheme has reached more than 23,000 students across the state, with around Rs 246 crore spent. The government has also approved Rs 495 crore to continue the initiative from 2026-27 through 2030-31.

For many families, especially in small towns and rural areas, good transport is really important. A scooty makes daily commute to college easier, reduces dependence on crowded public transport and saves time and energy for studies. Teachers in government schools often note that such incentives encourage more students to aim higher in board exams.

Parents of selected students can expect the funds to reflect in their accounts today. The process involves verification by district education officers before the final list is approved for transfer. Students should keep their bank details and Aadhaar ready for any follow-up if needed.

The Mukhyamantri Scooty Yojana continues to link academic performance with practical support. By putting the choice of vehicle in students’ hands and delivering money directly, the state aims to keep the focus on learning while removing one everyday barrier to higher education.
