CBSE Starts Formal Process for 2027 Board Exams as Schools Submit Candidate Lists

Central Board of Secondary Education has initiated the process for the 2027 board examinations. From 24 September 2026, the affiliated schools started submitting the List of Candidates for Class 10 and Class 12 students.

This step is the official entry point for students into the examination system. Only those whose names are correctly entered through the LOC process will be eligible to appear. For Class 10, the current submission covers the first board examination scheduled for February-March 2027 under the board’s two-exam policy.

Schools can complete the regular submission without late fee until 21 October 2026 for digital payments. Those using challan have a slightly earlier cutoff of 17 October. A late-fee window follows, running until the end of the month depending on the payment mode. A short correction window for limited details such as names and date of birth is expected in early November.

On 29 September, CBSE organised a live webinar titled “Relevance of Registration and LOC.” Senior officials answered questions from principals and teachers on subject combinations, data accuracy, fee rules and provisions for children with special needs. The board underlined its effort to keep the process transparent and easier for schools and students. More than 450 educators attended in person at the Dwarka office while many more joined online.

The official date sheet for Class 10 and 12 theory exams has not been released yet. Going by recent patterns, it is likely to appear in the coming weeks, probably in October or early November. Students and teachers can then map revision schedules around the exact subject dates. Practical examinations are expected later in the academic year.

Parents would do well to sit with their children this week and cross-check every detail the school has entered, especially subject choices and spellings of names. Once the list is locked, small mistakes become hard to fix. The latest syllabus and sample papers are already up on the academic site, so there is no reason to wait.

Most teachers I speak to keep saying the same thing: stick to the syllabus, keep the pace steady and avoid the usual last-minute rush. With candidate lists now moving through the system, the 2027 exams feel a little closer for students in nearly 32,000 CBSE schools in India and abroad. Getting the registration right now simply means fewer headaches later.
