Chandrababu Naidu Urges IIT Alumni to Partner in Andhra’s Education and Technology Drive

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday called on the country’s large IIT alumni community to join hands with the state government in building a stronger technology and education ecosystem. He made the appeal after the Pan-IIT Andhra Pradesh Summit 2026 held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Kala Vedika in Vijayawada.
Speaking to the media, Naidu pointed out that India’s 23 IITs have produced around five lakh graduates who have made their mark across the world. He said their expertise and global connections could help turn Andhra Pradesh into a global knowledge hub. The summit, organised by PanIIT Alumni India in partnership with the state government, brought together IIT leaders, industry figures, investors, policymakers and innovators under the theme focused on a DeepTech decade linked to Swarna Andhra and Viksit Bharat 2047.
Naidu stressed the need for creative ideas and practical collaboration. He highlighted plans for a permanent Pan-IIT Amaravati Council that would work continuously with universities and the government. According to the announcement, this council is expected to guide curriculum updates so that courses stay aligned with industry needs and emerging technologies. A Rs 500 crore Pan-IIT Amaravati Deep Tech Venture Fund was also announced to support startups and innovation in the state.
Other initiatives discussed include setting up industry chairs in Andhra Pradesh universities, building a network of 100 mentors for startups, and facilitating technology transfer from IITs. Discussions covered areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technologies, defence and aerospace, green energy and agri-tech. Naidu noted that the state is developing sectoral clusters and wants IIT alumni to help identify experts and share guidance for these efforts.
For the students and young aspirants of Andhra Pradesh, the developments hold out the promise of greater opportunities in the fields of research, mentorship and industry-linked programs. Teachers and schools could benefit from closer ties with the networks of IITs in terms of new teaching resources, joint projects and exposure to the latest work. Parents looking at future career options for their children may see more pathways opening in high-skill technology fields right within the state.
The summit also featured technology exhibitions and focused roundtables. Naidu expressed confidence that combining the efforts of IIT alumni, educational institutions, industry and government would drive meaningful progress in both technology and education. He described the overall effort as a unique programme that could help prepare the state for the opportunities of tomorrow.
