Jamia BTech Student Lands Rs 35 Lakh Pre-Placement Offer from Visa

A BTech Computer Engineering student from Jamia Millia Islamia has turned heads with a pre-placement offer worth Rs 35 lakh a year from global payments giant Visa. Mohd Shamoon, who belongs to the 2027 batch, received the offer after completing his summer internship with the company. Shamoon first cleared an online assessment and interview rounds to land the internship. During those months he earned a monthly stipend of Rs 90,000. His work impressed the team enough that Visa decided to convert the internship into a full-time pre-placement offer. A PPO is essentially an early job commitment given to interns before they finish their degree. Once the student graduates and meets the company’s conditions, the offer usually turns into a regular role. In Shamoon’s case the annual compensation stands at Rs 35 lakh. The University Placement Cell at Jamia handled the process and helped connect him with the opportunity. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, which has been training engineers since the mid-1980s, continues to see its students reach global firms through such structured campus support. For students still in the middle of their engineering journey, this is a clear reminder that performance during internships can open doors long before the final placement season begins. Parents watching the news can take quiet reassurance that consistent effort and the right exposure still matter. Teachers and placement teams at other colleges will likely point to this example when they talk about the value of preparing students for industry assessments and real workplace contributions. The story has been circulating widely among education communities because it shows what is possible for students at central universities when they combine classroom learning with strong internship results. Visa is known for selective hiring, so a PPO at this level stands out. Shamoon still has time left in his degree, but the offer already gives him a defined path ahead. For many young engineers preparing for the next round of internships or assessments, his journey offers a practical and encouraging benchmark.
